Fibromyalgia Success

Fibromyalgia Success!  Do those two words really go together?  Yes, they can!  While there is no singular source of Fibromyalgia there are many treatment options available for it.  Not just medicines that cover up symptoms but treatments that address the root cause of disease.  What it takes is someone who is both willing to look for root causes and then methodically treat them, one at a time. It also takes someone who has the motivation to stay with the program of care, even if it takes 6 months or a year until quality of life has improved.  And then stay with it.  In some regards Fibromyalgia is no different then many other conditions that require daily vigilance to keep them under control (or to make them as good as they can be).  Diabetes, Parkinsons, and Hypertension are just a few examples. For Fibromyalgia patients that should be comforting.  Fibromyaglia patients are not alone.  While there is no simple answer and health maintenance does take work in many respects that vigil is just part of having a chronic condition.  Read more about treatment options for Fibromyalgia at piedmontpmr.com.

Holistic Health

Taking personal ownership in your health is not as easy as it sounds.   Most people take their health for granted.  Life can be so demanding that finding the time to take care of oneself can seem like a burden so when things are OK, why worry?  But then things are not OK and we are unprepared.  If only we took the time to do simple things like re-framing the the way we deal with tension.   If we really thought about it we would make reducing tension a way of life instead of a way to deal with life.   Systema Health, Challenge and Choice, and Brain Highways are three tools we use at piedmont physical medicine and rehabilitation, pa to help patients improve quality of life.   Learn more about these at piedmontpmr.com.

Managing Expectations

One of the best ways to make sure you are satisfied with the care you receive, its results, or living with a medical condition, is to manage expectations.   Remember that just because most chronic illnesses are rarely cured that does not mean you have to sacrifice quality of life.  Sometimes by hoping for something that is achievable, and then giving yourself the chance to be happy when it does occur, you can be much happier then if you were let down due to unrealistic expectations to begin with.  Visit the Education tab of Piedmontpmr.com for several self help tools for managing expectations.
