Freedom From Weather Sensitive Pain

While some still consider weather sensitive pain an old wives tale if you have it, or know someone with it, you certainly know otherwise.  Many common conditions including arthritis, strained or stretched ligaments and tendons, fibromyalgia, headaches, muscle pain, CRPS, and RSD to name a few have weather sensitive pain components.   In fact, weather sensitive pain is common.  What is not common is finding someone who knows how to treat it or that understands how to diagnose it.  At Piedmont Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, PA we have special interest in weather sensitive pain.  Log onto piedmontpmr.com and search for it within the Medical Conditions tab.  You will find a wealth of resources all intended to help you achieve freedom from weather sensitive pain.

CRPS, RSD and Fibromyalgia Patients Often Have Dysautonomia

CRPS, RSD and Fibromyalgia patients often suffer from the signs and symptoms of Dysautonomia: abnormal function of the autonomic nervous system.  The autonomic nervous system is responsible for things like control of blood pressure, skin sweating and temperature, weather sensitivity, heart rate, bowel and bladder control, and even breathing.  Most of us don’t think about these things.  We just assume the body will take care of them.  But when it does not life can be difficult. Fortunately most people who have one of these problems do not have all of them.  Also most people with CRPS, RSD and Fibromyalgia usually only have partial difficulty with the dysautonomia problems that they do have.  There are many options to improve quality of life if you have features of Dysautonomia.  Log onto piedmonpmr.com to learn more.

Injection Therapy

Injection therapy can be a powerful tool to reduce or manage chronic widespread pain (CWP).  Fibromyalgia, hypermobility, CRPS, RSD, and failed backs and necks are example conditions that can benefit.  In each of these instances lax ligaments, sympathetic or weather sensitive pain, comorbid inflammatory and infectious disease, and psychological problems such as anxiety and depression can coexist.    Injections for nerve block, to regenerate ligament, tendon, or degenerative joints, to stop inflammation, or to facilitate movement are all examples of injection therapies that are effective for pain relief and management when these problems are present. Learn about injection types by visiting the Injection Types link on piedmontpmr.com.
