Sacroiliac Low Back Pain

Sacroiliac low back pain is a common disorder, maybe even more common that degenerative disk disease or sciatica.  Since sacroiliac low back pain is also considered a form of mechanical low back pain it cannot be diagnosed on traditional imaging tests such as Xray and MRI, or even with physiologic tests such as EMG.  In Greenville at Piedmont Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, PA, we use physical exam, functional testing such as Gait analysis, Biodex and Posturography, and Diagnostic Musculoskeletal Ultrasound to assess for the presence of sacroiliac low back pain and related ligamentous strain.   Once we have identified that your low back pain is due at least in part from sacroiliac involvement we formulate a treatment plan directed toward each factor that contributes to it.   Sacroiliac low back pain treatment requires patience with a long term goal of restoring balance to the pelvic ring.  Learn more about sacroiliac low back pain and treatment options at piedmontpmr.com.
