Breast Health and Musculoskeletal Conditions

Women have lots of reasons to question what is the right thing to do if they want to be proactive about breast health.   It is pretty hard not to have heard that Mammography, the once gold standard for breast cancer detection, has come under scrutiny for a myriad of reasons.   So many women have turned to other adjunct breast thermal findings assessments such as Medical Breast Thermology in order to do more.

The truth is that no imaging study, in and of itself, offers a holistic approach to breast health.  While Mammography, Breast MRI and Breast Ultrasound offer structural assessments for abnormalities in breast tissue, and Medical Breast Thermography offers a complimentary physiologic assessment, both are for the most part still pretty focused on breast tissue in isolation.

Infrared Breast Thermography

Infrared Breast Thermography is a great way to raise breast awareness in the Greenville, Spartanburg and Anderson areas. This harmless, non-ionizing breast thermal findings assessment test can complement other studies such as breast mammography for those looking to be as proactive as possible in the early detection of breast disease.  Breast thermography looks at physiology instead of structure and as a result it can provide different information regarding breast health as compared to traditional imaging studies.  Women also like that it is still effective in those with small, large, dense, fibrocystic, post surgical, and post implant breasts.   Tests of physiology may show abnormalities before structural tests too.  While there does not have to be a direct relationship this feature can allow breast thermography to detect disease before structural studies.  It also can monitor the effects of treatment or give insight into the progression of disease in the absence of treatment.   Learn more about the benefits of Breast Thermography at Piedmontpmr.com.

New AAT Guidelines For Breast Thermography

The American Academy of Thermology (AAT) has released new Guidelines for Breast Thermography.  They can be found at aathermography.org.   Breast Thermography is an adjunctive tool that provides physiologic information about risk factors such as hormone imbalance, lymphatic congestion, ductal congestion, painful chest wall syndromes, and neovascularity.  These risk factors can impact breast health and are not readily studied with other imaging modalities.  Learn more about Thermography at piedmontprm.com.
